Darius Miles played in an NBA game Sunday for the first time since April of 2006, grabbing one rebound in less than two minutes of play in the Grizzlies‘ first win over Dallas after 13 straight losses.

Miles underwent microfracture surgery on his right knee in November of 2006. The Grizzlies signed Miles after he went through the Boston Celtics‘ training camp and was waived before the regular season began.

Last week in practice, Miles played well enough to convince the coaches to give him playing time starting on Sunday. He was finally eligible to play after serving a 10-game suspension for violating the NBA’s drug policy.

“He had a (heck) of a practice,” Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay said.
